Halloween Progress Update (#15)

Heyo and salutations, everyone ^w^

I’d like to start this progress update by wishing a happy Halloween to all of you, and, if you’re not celebrating, a generally agreeable season.

I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who’s downloaded the game as it is. Despite its rudimentary, derivative, and experimental nature, you’ve gotten the project to 5000 views and 300 downloads, which is honestly amazing to me, and I’m grateful that you’ve decided to check it out and/or give it a try, even if it just involves a quick glance at the synopsis. Those numbers might not seem like much, but to me, it’s been incredibly satisfying to see them go up, and while this project might be a slapped-together niche fangame based on a niche entry in a niche genre, it’s done better on here than I could have ever hoped.

Now that I’m done foaming at the mouth over analytics, I’d like to announce that I’ve started adding a new outfit for Rui to the game in the form of a military dress uniform. The Special Services Division which Rui serves is technically a sub-branch of the Way Forward Corporate Navy, with some of its personnel in active service within it, supplying the WFCN with intelligence and experimental technology. In exchange, its operatives and staff are automatically enlisted in the organization, and all those not in active naval service receive a rank and pay grade, and can represent Way Forward’s corporate military by wearing its colors. This degree of legitimacy has allowed the SSD to be recognized by the Euro-American Treaty Organization (Formerly the EU and NATO) and the UN International Nuclear Peace Council as a semi-legitimate military organization. SSD Operatives, in particular, have reportedly leveraged their field experience, Office of the Peace Advanced Tactical Training, or sheer adaptability to earn postings to powerful Aero-Amphibious (AE-AMPH) vessels such as the Citadel(WF)-class Stealth Armored Command and Transport craft, the Samsara-class Medical Submarine Carrier with its complement of Naraka-class Recon Hunter-Killers and the top-secret Moksha-class Stealth Amphibious Air Corvettes, provided they can earn a high enough score on the WFCN’s Specialized Military Proficiency test. While SSD personnel can only wear the insignia of the WFCN on active duty, both active and reserve WFCN personnel in the SSD can proudly wear their corporate navy’s dress uniform, with a black, phoenix-pattern lapel distinguishing them from their contemporaries. As such, once the Chapter 11 update goes live, you’ll be able to equip Rui’s dress uniform from the Lucid Cell’s HQ, wherever that HQ happens to be.

At the moment, Chapter 11: A Firm Hand Lent is about 50% complete, as I underestimated the amount of new content I’d be adding to the script and decided to make Chapter 11 a shorter chapter, but one that I hope will come out sooner. Chapter 11 contains the introduction of a new, very blue character, a plot broadcast that uses flowery language to shed more light on the corporate, cult-like ideology and history of Way Forward, but mostly serves to progress the plot through a meeting between Rui and Agent Airi Hiraga from Lemniscate’s Department of Corporate Intelligence and Security.

As always, screenshots can be found below, along with some pictures of Rui in her new outfit.

Thanks again for all the support ^w^
